New Delhi: A cybercrime group has claimed responsibility for leaking more than 630GB of data allegedly stolen from Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners in India.

The leaked files reportedly include supplier details, internal documents and photos said to show iPhone 18 Pro prototypes undergoing drop tests.

The ransomware group World Leaks published more than 200,000 files on its dark web site. Security researchers who reviewed samples said the data includes supplier lists for iPhone components, internal engineering documents, prototype testing photos, employee records and manufacturing files. Some documents also reportedly contain information linked to Tesla projects.

Tata Electronics confirmed that it detected a cybersecurity incident several weeks before the data was published. The company said it activated its response protocols immediately, tightened access to internal systems and brought in cybersecurity experts to investigate. It added that the incident has not affected its business operations or production.

Apple is investigating the breach with Tata Electronics and reviewing its long-term security measures. India’s authorities have also launched an investigation. Reuters said it reviewed samples of the leaked data but could not independently verify the authenticity or completeness of every file.

The incident is one of the biggest reported leaks involving Apple’s supply chain through a third-party manufacturer. While there is no evidence that iPhone production or launch plans have been disrupted, the leak raises concerns about protecting confidential product designs and sensitive supply chain information.
