New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old private tuition teacher in the Burari area of north Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting three minor girl students between 2022 and 2024.

The accused, Dheeraj Chaudhary, is also accused of threatening the victims with circulating morphed photographs and videos of them on social media and with causing them harm if they disclosed the abuse.

He remains absconding. An FIR was registered against Chaudhary on Monday following a complaint lodged by one of the survivors, a 17-year-old Class 12 student.

The case has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to sexual offences as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police, the survivor and two of her neighbours all three students at a private school had been attending coaching classes conducted by Chaudhary for approximately three years.

In her statement, the survivor alleged that the accused repeatedly touched the girls inappropriately during classes. She further claimed that he sexually assaulted and raped all three girls on separate occasions in 2024.

The complaint also detailed a particularly distressing incident during the accused’s birthday celebration in 2024, when he allegedly arrived in an inebriated state and physically assaulted the girls by striking them with a belt.

When one of the girls threatened to inform her parents about the abuse, Chaudhary reportedly warned her that he would create and circulate morphed images and videos of them on social media platforms.

Fearing reputational harm and further threats, the complainant stopped attending the coaching classes in August 2024. The matter came to light on Monday when Chaudhary allegedly visited the survivor’s residence to complain to her parents about her irregular attendance.

Overcome with emotion, the girl disclosed the prolonged ordeal faced by herself and her two friends. Police sources stated that the accused then locked the girls inside the house before fleeing the scene.

Senior police officials said that several teams have been constituted to trace and apprehend the accused. Efforts are also underway to collect digital evidence related to the alleged threats and to provide necessary support and counselling to the survivors and their families.

This incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding the safety and supervision of students attending private coaching centres, particularly the vulnerability of adolescent girls to exploitation by individuals in positions of authority and trust.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Dheeraj Chaudhary is requested to contact the Burari police station or dial the police emergency number 112 immediately.
