Seven Killed in Multi Vehicle Chain Collision Near Hosakote, Bengaluru
Bengaluru/ New Delhi: Seven people lost their lives in a tragic chain-reaction road accident in the early hours of Friday near Sulibele in Hosakote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, approximately 35 km from Bengaluru.
The incident occurred around 5:15–5:30 a.m. on the Hosakote–Dabaspete National Highway (also referred to as the Satellite Town Ring Road or STRR) near M. Satyavara village.
According to police and reports from leading sources, a speeding Mahindra XUV (an SUV) traveling from Hosakote towards Devanahalli struck a two-wheeler (motorcycle) from behind.
The impact caused the SUV to lose control and collide with a canter truck (light commercial vehicle), triggering a fatal pile-up. Some accounts mention involvement of two cars/SUVs, but the core collision centered on one SUV, the motorcycle, and the canter.
All six occupants of the XUV and the motorcycle rider died on the spot due to the severe impact, which mangled the SUV. Preliminary investigations point to possible overspeeding as a primary cause, with authorities also examining factors such as driver fatigue or intoxication. The victims reportedly included students and possibly others on a joyride or commute.
Police from Sulibele station responded promptly, with Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Chandrakant visiting the site. A case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence and contributing factors. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for over an hour as debris was cleared.
