Gen Naravane Clarifies ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ Not Published
New Delhi: A political controversy has intensified over the status of General M.M. Naravane’s memoir Four Stars of Destiny.
Earlier claims by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that the book was published and available on Amazon have been directly challenged.
Gen. Manoj Mukund Naravane clarified in a post on X that the memoir has not been published and is not available for purchase. Penguin Random House India, which holds exclusive publishing rights, has also confirmed that no copies have been released in print or digital form. The publisher warned that circulating manuscripts or unauthorized copies could violate copyright laws.
Rahul Gandhi, however, continues to maintain his position, citing a 2023 social media post by Naravane linking to a pre‑order page. Gandhi argued that the memoir contains content critical of the government and questioned how the manuscript reached public and parliamentary attention.
He insisted he trusts Naravane’s account over the publisher’s denial.
The Delhi Police have registered an FIR over the alleged unauthorized circulation of the unpublished book.
The issue has now become a political flashpoint, with leaders debating the book’s status and its implications for transparency and governance.
