Prashant Kishor Alleges Big Names in NEET Death Probe
Patna / New Delhi: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor has intensified the political debate surrounding the NEET student death case in Bihar, alleging that “big names from Bihar are involved” and asserting that the seriousness of the matter led to the transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The case pertains to a NEET aspirant who was found unconscious in her hostel room in Patna in January and later died during treatment. Initial reports suggested suicide, but subsequent forensic findings indicated sexual assault and strangulation, triggering protests and widespread public outrage across Bihar. The developments prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team by Bihar Police before the probe was eventually handed over to the CBI.
Speaking to reporters, Kishor said that if the case had been minor, the SIT would have resolved it. He argued that the involvement of influential individuals necessitated a central agency probe. He further stated that his party stands fully committed to securing justice for the girl and ensuring that no accused, regardless of status or influence, escapes accountability.
The Bihar government has maintained that it recommended the CBI investigation to ensure transparency and impartiality amid mounting public pressure. Officials have stated that the state is cooperating fully with the central agency. The CBI has begun reviewing forensic evidence, examining witness statements, and re-evaluating materials collected during the initial police investigation.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has sought protection and demanded swift action, alleging intimidation during the course of the probe. The case has become a major political flashpoint in Bihar, with opposition leaders questioning the initial handling of the investigation and calling for institutional accountability.
As the CBI continues its inquiry, the NEET student death case remains under national scrutiny.
Political reactions, including those from Prashant Kishor, have kept the issue at the forefront of Bihar’s political discourse, with the next key development expected when the agency files its findings before the court.
