Manipur Internet Shutdown: Ukhrul District Faces 5-Day Ban Amid Fresh Violence
Imphal: The Manipur government has ordered a five-day suspension of internet services in Ukhrul district, effective from February 10, 2026, starting at 11:30 am, following fresh incidents of violence in the region.

According to official orders, the shutdown has been imposed as a preventive measure after reports of arson and gunfire in the Litan Sareikhong area, allegedly triggered by renewed ethnic tensions between community groups. Authorities said the move was necessary to prevent the spread of misinformation and inflammatory content that could further escalate the situation.
The suspension applies to all forms of internet connectivity, including mobile data, broadband services, VPNs, VSAT, and SMS, across the entire revenue jurisdiction of Ukhrul district.
In addition to the internet ban, a curfew has been imposed in the affected areas to maintain law and order. Security forces have been deployed, and the administration said the situation is being closely monitored.
Officials stated that services may be restored earlier if normalcy returns, while urging residents to cooperate with authorities and remain calm.
