Kanpur Lamborghini Crash; Shivam Mishra Seen Pulled From Driver’s Seat
Kanpur / New Delhi: A new security video showing a black Lamborghini being driven erratically and Shivam Mishra being physically pulled out of the driver’s seat by bystanders and security personnel has added fresh context to the high-profile crash that rocked Kanpur earlier this week.
The footage contradicts certain claims circulating online about who was driving the luxury car at the time of the incident.
The incident occurred on VIP Road in the upscale Gwaltoli area of Kanpur on Sunday, when a Lamborghini Revuelto — a high‑performance luxury sports car valued at over ₹10 crore — veered into pedestrians and multiple vehicles, injuring at least six people.
Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage from the scene show the supercar hitting an auto‑rickshaw and a motorcycle before mounting a divider and coming to rest amid chaos.
The newly surfaced security clip clearly shows Shivam Mishra being forcibly removed from the driver’s seat, offering strong visual evidence that counters narratives blaming a third‑party driver.
Claims and Counterclaims Over Who Was Driving
Immediately after the crash, a man identifying himself as Mohan — described as a chauffeur or designated driver — appeared in court claiming he was behind the wheel and that Mishra suffered a sudden seizure just moments before the impact.
Mohan asserted that he tried to control the car but could not, after which Mishra took over. However, the Kanpur Police and court records indicate that Mohan’s claim was not substantiated, as his name did not appear in the FIR or police investigation records.
A local court on Wednesday rejected Mohan’s surrender application, with Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Amit Singh observing that forensic evidence, eyewitness testimony, and CCTV visuals strongly pointed to Shivam Mishra as the driver at the time of the crash.
Police Take Action; High‑Profile Arrest
On Thursday morning, Kanpur Police arrested Shivam Mishra from a hospital in Delhi, where he was reportedly under treatment. Police said the 30‑plus‑year‑old, son of prominent tobacco businessman K K Mishra, was wanted in connection with charges of negligent and rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita as well as endangering life.
Shivam’s family has challenged the police narrative, with his lawyer asserting that he was wrongly arrested and citing his health condition, including claims of epilepsy that allegedly caused a medical episode on the day of the crash. However, investigators maintain that the physical evidence continues to implicate him as the driver.
Public Reaction and Legal Scrutiny
The case has drawn nationwide attention due to the dramatic footage, the involvement of a high‑end Lamborghini, and questions of accountability involving influential individuals.
Public outrage on social media has been intense, with many users debating entitlement and legal consequences for the wealthy. Editorial commentary also emphasizes the broader issue of elite privilege undermining faith in equal justice.
Police have impounded the vehicle for technical and forensic examination, and legal proceedings are ongoing as the investigation unfolds.
