BSF Organises Bordermen Marathon 2026; Celebrates Diamond Jubilee

New Delhi/Amritsar, Punjab: The Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Frontier, successfully organizes the Bordermen Marathon– 2026 in Amritsar on February 22 as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking 60 years of dedicated service to national security. 

The marathon is held under the theme “Hand in Hand with Border Population,” highlighting BSF’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with communities residing along India’s international borders.

The marathon is conducted under the aegis of the Fit India Movement and receives recognition from the Athletics Federation of India. The event features three competitive categories- Full Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.097 km) and 10K Run- attracting professional athletes, security personnel and fitness enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.

The marathon is ceremonially flagged off from Golden Gate, Amritsar, by Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General, Punjab Frontier, in the presence of senior BSF officials, dignitaries and guests. The Half Marathon category starts from the historic War Memorial, while the 10K run begins from Lahori Mal village, both located in key areas of Amritsar.

More than 7,500 runners participate in the event, making it one of the largest border security force–organized marathon events in recent years. Participants include civilians, serving armed forces and police personnel, youth from border villages, ex-servicemen, and international athletes who join to promote the message of peace, fitness and harmony.

The BSF arranges comprehensive medical support systems along the marathon route, including emergency response teams, hydration stations and refreshment facilities to ensure the safety and comfort of runners. Security personnel and local residents gather along the tracks to cheer the participants, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and national pride.

The marathon concludes with a grand prize distribution ceremony at the Joint Check Post Attari near the India–Pakistan border. Winners across different categories receive medals and recognition from the chief guest during the ceremony.

The event also features a cultural programme showcasing Punjab’s rich heritage. The performance by the BSF Mahila Band becomes a major attraction, presenting patriotic musical compositions and traditional tunes that celebrate national spirit. Cultural presentations highlighting Punjab’s folk traditions further add colour to the closing ceremony.

Officials state that the Bordermen Marathon 2026 reflects BSF’s dedication not only to border security but also to community outreach, physical fitness promotion and youth engagement initiatives during the Diamond Jubilee year. The event reinforces the BSF’s long-standing mission of protecting India’s borders while maintaining harmonious relations with border populations.

The BSF continues to organize such outreach and fitness initiatives to promote a message of peace, national integration and healthy living among citizens residing in sensitive border regions.
