Blind Man’s Grievance Surfaces at The Kerala Story 2 PC; Makers Promise Support
New Delhi: A press conference for the upcoming Hindi film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond turned into a moment of public concern on Monday, when a visually impaired man stepped forward with a personal grievance in front of media and event attendees.
The promotional event, held to present the sequel ahead of its scheduled February 27 release, was aimed at spotlighting survivors who the filmmakers said were affected by issues depicted in the movie.
At one point, a man identified himself as blind and claimed that despite repeatedly approaching police for help regarding his issue, he had received only verbal assurances and no concrete action.
His statement was made directly in front of media representatives and attendees, briefly drawing attention away from the film’s promotional agenda.
In response, the film’s makers assured him of their “full support” and committed to helping address his concern, according to circulating video clips from the event that gained traction online soon after.
The exact nature of the man’s issue or police interactions was not detailed publicly beyond his statement.
The The Kerala Story 2 press meet had already been drawing intense scrutiny from journalists and the public over several points. Particularly regarding the absence of Malayali women among the group of allegedly affected individuals introduced by the makers, despite the film’s title highlighting Kerala.
Journalists repeatedly questioned producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah and director Kamakhya Narayan Singh about why none of the presented women hailed from Kerala or nearby southern states, a matter that sparked heated exchanges at the interaction.
Earlier at the same event, the filmmakers defended their decision, saying the sequel expands the narrative to a pan-India issue rather than focusing only on Kerala.

Critics at the press meet argued this framing still risked misrepresenting the state’s image, prompting sharp back-and-forth between the media and the makers.
The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond has already been subject to controversy, including legal challenges in the Kerala High Court over its certification and title as well as public debate about its content and intent ahead of release.
