High‑Tech Cheating Racket Busted During SSC MTS Exam, 2 Arrested
Dehradun/New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand STF teams have jointly busted a sophisticated cheating racket during the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi‑Tasking Staff (MTS) examination at Mahadev Digital Zone in Dehradun.
Two men, Nitish Kumar from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and Bhaskar Naithani from Dehradun, were arrested on 13 February 2026 for allegedly providing paid assistance to candidates using a hidden proxy server in the basement that allowed remote access to exam systems.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects set up a network to manipulate candidates’ computers in real time, assisting nearly 100 examinees. Police seized four mobile phones, two laptops, and an internet router believed to be used in the operation. Forensic analysis is ongoing to identify other accomplices and the full extent of the network.
The SSC MTS exam is a highly competitive test for recruitment to central government positions. Authorities have not confirmed whether the exam at the affected centre will be cancelled or whether scores of implicated candidates will be invalidated.
STF officials said the arrests followed specific intelligence about fraudulent assistance during the examination. They emphasized that the suspects were actively enabling cheating through hacking and remote access technology.
The case highlights growing concerns about technological fraud in competitive exams. The investigation is continuing, with officials pledging strict action against anyone found participating in such networks, to maintain the integrity of government recruitment processes.
