New Delhi: Reliance Industries and Jio will invest ₹10 lakh crore over the coming years to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in India, Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The investment will focus on developing large-scale AI data centres, expanding high-performance computing capacity and delivering AI-driven services at significantly lower costs across sectors.

Mukesh Ambani said the initiative aims to transform India from a connectivity-driven economy to an intelligence-powered one by building domestic AI capabilities at scale. The plan includes setting up advanced compute infrastructure and enabling affordable AI access for businesses, startups and citizens.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the summit, unveiled what he called the MANAV Vision for AI governance. The framework outlines a human-centric approach to artificial intelligence, stressing accountability, accessibility, ethical deployment and alignment with democratic values. Modi emphasised that AI development must benefit all sections of society and remain under responsible oversight.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai also addressed the gathering and highlighted ongoing AI investments and skilling initiatives in India. He spoke about strengthening technology collaboration between India and the United States and expanding certification and training programmes to build AI talent at scale.

The summit brought together global technology leaders, policymakers and industry executives to deliberate on AI infrastructure, governance models and cross-border partnerships. Discussions centred on scaling AI responsibly, strengthening digital sovereignty and positioning India as a key global hub for artificial intelligence innovation.

The announcements signal one of the largest coordinated pushes toward AI infrastructure and policy development in India, combining government-led governance frameworks with large-scale private investment commitments.
